Sami is committed to providing strong, responsive, and accountable representation for residents.
A lifelong public servant and community advocate, Sami brings more than 20 years of experience working in municipal, provincial, and federal government, specializing in environmental public health, emergency management, and public policy.
Since being elected to Council, Sami has focused on our community; protecting the interests of Ward 1 residents and ensuring residents have a strong voice at Town Hall.
During his first term, Sami has worked collaboratively with Council, municipal staff, local organizations, and residents to advance important community priorities. He has supported investments in recreation facilities, improvements to municipal infrastructure, enhancements to community services, and initiatives aimed at maintaining the quality of life that residents value.
He has consistently advocated for transparent government, responsible spending, and policies that balance growth with the needs of existing neighbourhoods.
Over the past four years, Sami has helped advance major municipal priorities, including investments in public services, recreation infrastructure, community engagement initiatives, responsible growth planning, and efforts that strengthen inclusion and belonging throughout Clarington.
He has supported the development of the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre, participated in community forums designed to increase resident engagement, and championed initiatives that recognize and celebrate diversity within the municipality.
Before serving on Council, Sami was actively involved in local volunteer initiatives and community organizations. His professional career has included working with Indigenous communities, public health agencies, and multiple Ontario ministries, where he developed expertise in policy development, emergency preparedness, stakeholder engagement, and evidence-based decision-making.
As a husband, father, and longtime resident, Sami understands the priorities that matter most to local families: safe communities, reliable infrastructure, accessible recreation, responsible growth, and a strong local economy. He remains committed to being accessible, listening to residents, and working hard to ensure Clarington continues to be a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
Outside of Council, Sami’s professional career has included leadership roles in public health, emergency management, compliance, and government operations. His experience working with provincial ministries, municipalities, Indigenous communities, and public agencies has provided him with a strong understanding of governance, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning.
Sami’s approach to public service is simple: listen to residents, make informed decisions, and deliver practical solutions that strengthen our community today while planning responsibly for tomorrow.
Sami remains committed to building a Clarington that is welcoming, prosperous, and prepared for the future—a community where families can thrive, businesses can succeed, and residents can continue to enjoy an exceptional quality of life.
